It is with profound sadness that we regret to announce the passing of Trevor Drent, former member of SARFC, Old Sturgeonians RFC and long time women's rugby coach.
Trevor's was a Kiwi by birth and it truly showed in his passion for rugby. After years of living away from the land he loved, he returned to his native New Zealand to retire. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer and passed this morning with his cherished wife Mary by his side.
The only thing Trevor loved more than rugby was his family. Along with Mary, he leaves behind to mourn son David, and daughters Jenny and Katharine, both who played with SARFC.
Trevor's greatest legacy left to the club was his commitment to and belief in the women's program. Besides years of coaching and countless hours spent touring the province with the ladies, it wasn't unusual to hear Trev setting someone straight on their archaic, gender-biased views of who should or should not be playing the game.
May your soul rest in peace, dear friend. You will be missed.
